[BristolBathPM] using YAML/JSON to generate database tables

Hi All,
  I'm getting into this YAML/JSON thing. Having a centralised schema for 
a load of my routines should make future updates a hell of a lot easier. 
I'm thinking of also putting in the info needed to generate the database 
tables themselves. Is this normal? If so is there a standard way of 
doing it? My google-fu didn't bring up much.
